Vacation Out west Part IX: Pioneer Day

On July 24th, Pioneer Day, we headed left grandma Erickson's house to head back to Erda, Utah.  Aunt Eileen was planning a Pioneer Day party at her house.  With a trampoline, small swimming pool, and a bounce house - the kids were very well entertained.

Hazel hung out at the fire pit with grandma and Aunt Camille

While the sun was still up, we had a nice finger food dinner, made home made ice cream, complete with toppings, and threw "pop-its" on the ground.  Eliza was definitely not a fan of the loud popping noise.

To a 2 year old boy stacking wood in a fire pit, even if there is no fire, is a very entertaining thing to do.

When it got dark, we started the firework celebration with some sparklers.  Zabien was a big fan.

Eliza wasn't too sure about the sparklers either, but she stuck it out, and eventually decided that they weren't that bad after all.

I had to take this picture. Completely unplanned, Zabien wore a USU shirt and Ezra had on a BYU shirt
Cousins and second cousins enjoying fireworks.

Bill and Joe provided the entertainment with an awesome firework show.  Then we headed back to grandma Richards's house.

I am grateful for my pioneer ancestors and for the sacrifices they made on my behalf.  I may not enjoy the kinds of blessings I do if it weren't for those early pioneers.
