A Day on campus

A Day is an annul event that takes place at Delaware Valley University where Bruce is a professor.  It is put on by the students every spring and all proceeds benefit the students and their clubs and organizations.  It's a great big fair, and is generally well attended.  In the past, we have volunteered to help in the milkshake tent - the free milkshakes are a perk.  This year A day was on April 25.  Because Hazel was only a week old, and I wasn't getting around very well, Hazel, my mom, and I decided to stay back while Bruce and my dad accompanied the kids to A Day.  From the sounds of it, they had a blast.

Here they are sitting on the wagon that takes them up to campus from the parking lot.

I gave each child enough money to buy 20 tickets that they could use however they wanted. After their pony ride,

they spent the rest of them all in one place - the bouncy slide.

This actually surprises me because I have taken them to blow up playgrounds and bouncy houses before, and they wouldn't even touch them.

Poor Bruce; while I was having lunch at Friendly's with my mom and getting Hazel some new clothes, he was literally chasing the kids in every direction.  Zabien has turned into a runner.  He will run through swarms of people without a second thought.  He thinks its funny when we finally catch up with him, that is if some stranger doesn't stop him and search for his parents (which has happened before).  When Eliza is feeling extra mischievous, she will run the opposite direction which leaves the paradoxical question, who do you go after first?

While Bruce was chasing Zaby at the bottom of the slide, Eliza would get up so quickly from the slide and starting climbing the stairs again that she would bypass the ticket line scoring in several extra and free rides.  Lucky her!  Unfortunate Bruce - I think it was more work than fun for him.

Zaby did stop running long enough to pose for a picture with the mascot of our favorite radio station.

Despite running out of gas on the way there, I would say that A Day was a success, even if dad was much too exhausted to stop by the milkshake tent.  I'm not even sure he had time to glimpse in on the dairy show.  Poor daddy - he too had to take on a lot of responsibility when Hazel blessed our family.

The kids got to sit on the wagon by grandpa on the way back to the van.  It's not surprising that they both fell asleep within minutes of pulling out of the parking lot.
