We got our first significant snow storm came on December 10. (We've had quite a few sense then). Honestly, more snow fell on this day alone than has fallen in the past three years combined since we've lived here. I think we have a record snow fall this year. Lucky for Bruce the campus closed and finals were postponed. Unlucky for Bruce, his finals were rescheduled the following Monday (this Tuesday was supposed to be his last day).
When it started coming down, Zaby was fascinated. He spent the greater part of the morning looking outside the sliding door and trying to open it. Finally, I convinced Bruce to take him outside for his first time playing in the snow. As you can tell from the picture below - he absolutely LOVED it! He crawled around all over. He tried standing up (he was learning how to stand on his own anyway), but his snowsuit and boots caused him to lose his balance.
Instead, he helped daddy build a snowman. I love the look of joy on his face.
It didn't take long for Eliza to figure out that she was missing out on something fun. "Mommy, help me get my suitcase (yes she said suitcase) on so I can go outside." We got her bundled up, and she quickly joined in on the snowman building fun.
Pretty soon, we had two adorable children standing next to two adorable little snowboys. They were too small to be called snowmen.
It was quite beautiful - freshly fallen snow, but also a bit cold so I didn't stay outside long. Just long enough to pose for a few pictures.
Even with rosy cheeks and an even rosier nose, the little man screamed and cried, and threw his body on the floor in his typical fit like fashion when he had to come inside. Rain or snow, sunshine or bitter cold, that boy is drawn to the outdoors. He is almost tall enough to reach the door handles. Knowing him, it probably won't take him long to figure out how to work the childproof handles, and then we will all have an adventure in store.
Note: I'm sad to say that even though we had 3 or 4 significant snow storms, we still didn't have a white Christmas. A few days before Christmas temperatures rose to the mid 60's melting all of the snow and freezing rain. After Christmas came the -16 temperature - weather is so fickle.
