August 15 I took Brittney and Eliza with me to visit Glenn Gorvell's (a DVC alumni and president of PDMP) dairy farm. He lives way up north by New York. Then we drove over to the priesthood restoration site [in what was then Harmony, Pennsylvania]. We were the only ones there. It's near a busy highway. It made me wonder how many people hurried on by without a clue of what vital significance the place holds. Millions of members worldwide are blessed because of what happened there. Ancient apostles visit there. The priesthood of God was restored to earth there. Because of what happened there, I have the authority to bless and protect my family.
I was quite surprised that this monument is the only thing there. I guess I expected something a little more grandiose. The church did ask members to donate to the priesthood restoration site, so they must have plans to put something else here, or make improvements on the property. It does mention that Emma Hale's parents and Joseph and Emma lived in cabins near by. This is also where Joseph and Emma buried their first born son. It was a unique experience to sit and ponder the significance of this spot.
