85% sure we are having a little GIRL!!!!
After 5 years, we are generously blessed with a baby. We are super excited. We were kind of hoping for a boy first, but when it really comes down to it - we're just excited to be having a baby. The ultrasound technician said four things about our little Girl!
1) She's Cute - for the entire 20 minutes baby girl was on the screen, she always had limbs on or around her face. First, her hand was tucked under her chin. Then one hand was draped across her forehead while the other played with the ambilical cord. The technician thought she had some cute mannerisms. After I thought about it for a minute, I realized that the most common placement of my hands is somewhere around my face. I don't frequently put my foot on my forehead, but maybe I should start practicing.
This picture is my favorite one of the group - I love that her foot is almost touching her forehead - maybe she'll be flexible and a gymnist. (not at all characteristic of her parents)(Bruce can almost touch his toes - if his knees are bent:))

2) She was very cooperative. The technician was able to get all of the proper measurements very easily. She didn't have to poke and prod to get the baby to move in the proper position. Hopefully her cooperation will continue for the rest of her life.
3) She is very modest! (YEAH!!) Baby girl had her ankles crossed the entire time. It was difficult to see the true gender of our baby. She would only let the technician get quick glimpses. She was pronounced a girl simply because the technician couldn't see something. When she did get quick glimpses, she saw 3 white lines which generally indicates a girl. This is why she is only 85% sure. I guess there is a chance I could still have a boy, but I probably won't have another ultrasound done simply because I don't really need one. They were able to see everything they needed to see from this one, and I'm not sure my insurance will actually cover another one. That's okay with me!! We really don't have a preference either way. Maybe we'll still be surprised.
4) She's healthy!! Everything looked normal. Heart rate was about 130 which is in the normal range, and she weighed in about 13 oz.
Other facts!! Mom is doing great. Some swelling in her legs, especially behind her knees, which causes occasional pain; other than that I am anxiously awaiting her arrival.
I'm 20 weeks and a couple of days and due around July 19th. I just barely started outgrowing most of my pants, and I bought my first pair of maternity jeans yesterday. They are much more comfortable than expected.
Hardest part now - waiting!! I guess we still need some time to decide on a name. Naming your child brings a lot of unexpected pressure. :) Any ideas???

Congrats!!! So excited for you!
Yea a girl. I was going to e-mail you today and see if you had found out what you were having yet. I am so glad everything is perfect and that she is healthy. My friend was surprised last month with a boy when she was expecting a girl, so anything could happen. Congratulations.
Yay for you! Congratulations!
Yeah I've been waiting for this annoucement. I heard the rumor when you guys went to move but since you hadn't mentioned it I didn't want to ask about it! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE having daughters :) Pink is CUTE! No naming help....it is seriously always a disaster here, but I wanted to say that for the swelling I actually got the compression stockings from walmart that old men wear. It sounds silly but it so totally helped!
We are very excited for you, and it's fun to know you are having a girl. If she comes early and is born on the 4th, you can name her Liberty or America. And if she's born on the 24th you can name her Pioneer!. Other than that, I don't have any other suggestions, other than my two favorite girl names are Clarissa and Sarah!
We are so excited for you. I love my girls. Honestly I love having a girl as the oldest. everyone may not agree, but I think it makes the house a bit calmer and she is such a good helper. Boys have more energy...which is good, but I like having the calmness first...it sets the tone. I can't wait to hear more about your little bundle of joy. I hope you continue to feel great.
We are so excited for you! Congratulations!
Congratulations!!!!!
YEAHHHHHHH! So fun for you! And as for a name...DENISE!!!! hahahahaha Just jokin'
But I am just so happy for you. Isn't it so much more real and emotional actually SEEING her?!
She is SOOOO cute! I never actually thought I'd find an ultrasound adorable (including my own kids', but don't tell 'em I said so), but she is positively precious. We are so excited for you! Now if only we could tele-transport ourselves to be your next door neighbors. Eli's screaming bloody murder at the moment--I think he misses you and is jealous of the shared attention. :)
WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!! Congratulations! I'm so thrilled for you two. I love my girls, though I'd say the same thing if I had boys. What a blessing!!!
HOORAY!
Good luck with the foot to your forehead! Keep doing that up to week 40 and you'll be in great shape for labor :)
We're so excited to see more pictures of your darling, wiggly, modest baby girl! Congrats, congrats, congrats!!!
Oh my friend, I am SO HAPPY for you. What an exciting time. There is nothing like being pregnant for the first time - it is truly special. I hope you feel okay throughout so you can enjoy this time.
Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! I am so excited for you guys. Babies are such wonderful blessings :) And trust me when I say that you will be grateful that you have a girl first.
So EXCITING!!! Congratulations you guys! Also be wary of the "85%" they told us they were 85% sure Jack was a girl because they never got a money shot...
But having a girl first is awesome because they help with the next ones rather than trying to capture the "bad guy baby"
yay! We love girls!
Wow! Congrats! I am so excited for you guys! She already looks adorable! I can't think of anyone who will be a better mom!
Fffffffffffffabulous! She is going to be darling, no doubt about that!! We are so happy for you. Names . . . I'll tell you girl names I like just because I think I'm going to have all boys. They are (and don't laugh, but if you do I won't be offended): Scarlett, Jane, Mable, Margo. I can see you having an Eliza or Lydia, which are very adorable names, too. :)Anyway, congrats!!
Yeah! Super exciting!!!! Guess what? We are expecting baby #2... Just found out a few days ago.
YAAAAAY for girls! We are sooooo happy for you! My suggestion for names - look through your family history. There are some cool names there. Hope you guys are doing well!
Congrats Brittney! You will be an amazing mommy.
Oh my goodness! We are so excited for you two. Sorry for the lateness of my response (blogging has fallen way down on my priority list...not necessarily by choice, either!) Hope all goes well with the pregnancy; enjoy every minute of it because it goes by so quickly! Congrats!
Jake and Kori
OH MY GOODNESS!!! Hooray!! I can't believe that after waiting and waiting and waiting, the two of us are pregnant at the SAME TIME! Our baby girl is coming next Wednesday, it feels like we've been waiting forever, but at the same time it's come really fast. I'll try to be better at keeping out blog up to date so we can keep in touch. Congrats again, Bert! :)
